Galante Vineyards our philosophy is simple: grow the finest grapes possible
and let the fruit express itself in the wine. Since all of our grapes
are estate grown, each bottle of wine we produce embodies the characteristics
of our unique region, exhibiting the natural flavors that are born from
the land.
The Galante Family has
a long history in the Monterey area. Owner Jack Galante's great grandfather,
J.F. Devendorf, was the founder of the town of Carmel. He later built
the Pine Inn and the prestigious Highlands Inn. In 1969, Jack's parents
purchased a 700-acre cattle ranch in rustic Carmel Valley. While still
maintaining a working cattle ranch, the Galantes, in 1983, began growing
premium grapes on their property, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1994, Jack Galante decided to build a winery and use some of his grapes
to produce ultra-premium estate bottled wines. Today Galante is recognized
as one of the premier Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Monterey County
and all of California.

92 POINTS: Galante 2009 Estate Bottled Sauvignon Blanc (Carmel Valley): $25 Easily as good as the dramatic 2008. Galante is proving itself a serious player in the Sauvignon Blanc sweepstakes. Oak-aged, the wine is wonderfully dry and crisp, with citrus, melon and fig flavors that are entirely ripe, and finish in a swirl ofpeppery spice. Editor’s Choice. – S.H. The Wine Enthusiast
90 Points: Galante 2007 Red Rose Hill Cabernet Sauvignon; A very nice cab that is Bordeaux-like in its dryness, modest alcohol and tannic earthiness that grounds the blackberry and cherry fruit… The Wine Enthusiast (Nov. 2009)
90 Points: Galante 2005 Blackjack Pasture Cabernet Sauvignon: Fans of soft, lush cabernets are going to enjoy this one. It offers a rich bouquet of blackberry, cherry and currants, with indulgent nuances of rich milk chocolate. Lovely fruit and a graceful finish make it a highly drinkable wine… Food and Beverage World, Feb. 2010
4 Stars, Exceptional! Galante 2006 Almond Flat Pinot Noir: Bright, brilliant ruby red color. The nose is filled with scents of black cherry with raspberry and accenting aromas of earth, dark chocolate and oak. The palate concurs with the nose delivering a rich and austere Pinot with plenty of earth and spice. Rustic, intense and pure with plenty of life ahead. This is not the typical fruit bomb with Syrah tendencies. BevX, July 2010
4 Stars, Exceptional! Galante 2006 Rancho Galante Cabernet Sauvignon: Deep, dark ruby red color. The nose is dense and concentrated with scents of dark berries and pronounced accents of cigar, black pepper, clove, earth, and oak. The palate is a mirror reflection of the nose ideally marrying fruit, earth, tobacco, brown spice and a dose of cedar. Complex and charming selling for a very sensible price. BevX, July 2010
4 Stars, Exceptional! Galante 2007 Merlot: Deep ruby red color with garnet edges. The nose is generously fruity with scents of blueberry, raspberry and plum with hints of brown spices, earth and oak. The palate is in full agreement with the nose; dry, dusty tannins, black pepper, and a trailing note of ripe cherry. An altogether stylish and charming Merlot. BevX, July 2010
92 Points: Galante 2007 Grand Champion: The 2007 blend was 38% Malbec, 37% Petite Sirah, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wine has an alluring nose of blackberry, boysenberry, coffee, vanilla, and clove. The medley of dark berries, vanilla and coffee return on the palate, accompanied by an intriguing hint of olive. Concentrated but smooth, barbequed ribs would make a great companion for a bottle.
